Good news! I just received an email from the elective department saying that it is purely a mix-up, and i am definitely doing the elective with the Cardiology Department... ;) Yay! All's well that ends well.

Happy National Day!

There's alot of trouble with my overseas elective application. I'm getting tired... Sigh...

We were trying to settle our immunisation records... and so we went to SATA to get our Mantoux test... And its 15mm, so the Dr said we need to do a Chest X Ray! And so our application has to be delayed for the 2nd week! The 1st week we were delayed cos we couldn't get down to YIH on time because the clinic was on the verge of closing. And this 2nd week because we have to wait for the X-Ray report! :(

Another problem: They need proof of our English proficiency and asked for IELTS or the TOEFL, but Singapore students don't do these tests routinely... so I asked if we could give them copies of our A and O level and SAT English certificates... And they asked me if they are for english! And they also asked if we're taugh English in Primary School...I'm like huh? I don't really understand what you're talking about... And yes we're taught in English... And now i'm still waiting for a reply...

And yesterday I received the letter confirming my acceptance of my place... (I sent an email last week to confirm that I would be doing my elective with the Cardiology department) and yet the letter says: "MEDICAL ELECTIVE ATTACHMENT. Oncology."

Oh Man... What a terrible mix up. I genuinely hope its purely a mix up...The 2 fields are really different and I am SO NOT going to do Oncology! The only thing Cardiology and Oncology have in common is the "logy" and the "o" at the end of CardiO and OncO! They don't even have the same number of letters! Oh dear...

Stay calm... Everything will turn out fine... haha... If they don't reply me soon I'll have to check up on the time difference between their country and ours so that I can call the elective office... :( Overseas call! Expensive! :(
