We went to Glasgow during the 2nd Weekend here! Did some shopping and walked the market called the Barras... We also ate Fish & Chips and Haggis (a scottish food specialty) from a little shop along the street...

The 3rd weekend we spent our time in the highlands, looking at sheep, cows, horses and some pigs as we drove around the countryside... It was fun! :) Took lots of photos and some videos!

Please check out Huiting's blog for the pictures and videos... I'm too lazy to upload any... :)

Huiting's blog address is: http://ahham.blogspot.com

Ok, I've got a couple of sweet and touching stories I'd like to tell...

I was in the cardio clinic and this old couple came in... I was so touched by how they knew each other so well and the husband was voicing his wife's concerns when she didn't know or was too shy to say anything... And when they walked out they were holding hands... So sweet! :) Its so wonderful to be in love at such an old age...

We were sitting in a rental car and were waiting for the traffic light to change. Suddenly one of the persons sitting on the roadside got up (i'm not sure if he's a beggar). He was young but looked quite unkempt and was holding a foot long thing in his hand... I panicked and quickly asked my friends if they locked the car doors... He walked past our car, crossed the street to the other side. He spilt the long thing in half and gave it to the other person sitting on the pavement! I then realised that it was a piece of bread! Wow... I was so touched... we all were... Here he is, cold and probably hungry, and he's sharing food with another person like him! Wow...

We were staying at a Bed & Breakfast in Carrbridge... The lady owner told us that one of her dogs, Sam (a 13 year old dog that looks like a large Chihuahua) got so worried for her husband who was very ill in hospital that her whiskers turned white!Unfortunately her husband died soon after... I felt so touched... i stroked Sam quite a bit during breakfast before we left...

I was talking to this 93 year old lady who was admitted for a heart attack... She was so nice! She kept petting my hand and asking me to take care... and later on she gave me a little peck on my right cheek... :) So sweet!

Ok, I think that's about all I have to tell about sweet and touching stories right now... Will try to blog again soon about our weekend trips!

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry for not updating... Haha i think there've been alot of going ons in Singapore!!! For example, someone's been doing night calls (so poor thing! Jia you dear!) and Carine went to Japan and back, and now Lile is in Greece! Wow, U'd think we're all jetsetters... haha...

Anyway, i've so much to blog about! I like Edinburgh alot. I like the place, with all the old buildings, roads and monuments... I like the weather (Its now better! Getting warmer and sunnier!) and most of all I like the way of life here! Its more relaxing, people have better attitudes and it makes me feel very comfortable! No one horning at other people, no one cutting into lanes, no impatient people at the supermarket check out counter...

Somehow, the people here (ok, not all but most of them) are more patient, more considerate, more polite towards others... Everyone is so nice! People give up their seats willingly to old folks on the bus and everyone smiles at each other! It makes me feel relaxed and less high strung...

Now i understand why people like to emigrate...

But as Huiting says, I miss Singapore too... I miss seeing Derrick, seeing chinese people around... Dark skinned people... I can't help but sometimes feel out of place in the midst of fair people and sometimes I get the feeling that people are looking at me because I look different... And i also miss the food back home! I miss Mee Pok, Char Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice etc... And of course I miss the prices back home! Wah, everything is so expensive! The clothes, groceries, everything! And of course I miss the opening hours of the shops back home! Most of the shops here are closed by 6pm... They have a 'late' day, which is on Thursday I think, when they close at 8pm... And although i'm enjoying the weather now I'm sure I won't have a good time when winter comes...

Wednesday, May 9

Hi everyone! Haha, I haven't been updating my blog much... Sorry lah, lazy and busy... Anyway, I'm now in Edinburgh! Its my 5th day there already! Wow, time flies! Its my 2nd day in the Hospital I'm posted to... I'm now using a computer in their computer lab...

Edinburgh is a nice place... All the buildings have that old feel about them... They're all made of similar types of bricks and so most of the buildings in the city centre have the same colour... But although they look old on the outside, the interior is very modern! :) I guess the buildings are so nice they can't bear to tear them down so they can only furnish the inside...

Its getting sunnier everyday... Yay! The 1st 2 days we were here it rained... Bad thing to happen cos the rain and wind really makes it VERY cold! Without that the weather's actually quite good, though its still a little cold for my liking and I'm still trying to adjust...

Food and appetite wise I'm still trying to adjust! Initially had some jet lag and poor appetite.. Tummy always felt bloated and I thought I was full... Now i'm better! Ate quite alot for dinner yesterday...haha...

We've been cooking all our dinners! Bought a 1kg bag of rice (I haven't seen 5kg ones yet) from the supermarket and so we've been cooking porridge! Can't cook rice cos there's no ricecooker and so the rice will get burnt... But yesterday we had rice! (Coincidence) Too bad we wanted to eat porridge so we added more water... I can't wait to cook rice! Then can have fried rice or something! :)

I need to eat more vegetables! Argh, haven't had bowel output in a couple of days! I think its also cos initially i didn't eat much... Hopefully i get better!

The stuff here's really ex (compared to singapore)... I forgot to bring my packed lunch out this morning so i bought a sandwich (like the type they sell in 7-11) and it cost £2.79! Which is almost $10... But to be fair it had q alot of meat and was really filling... But still...

Ok, I aim to be about 1/4 to 1/2 Ah Ma, save $$ on lunch... yest we were calculating and realised that she really spends very little $ on food! Wah, way to go man! But i can't be like her lah... I get sick of eating bread easily...

There's a microwave oven in the lounge so maybe one day I'll make Instant Maggi Mee and heat it up in school...

I better look up/brainstorm some recipes so we can put our food to good and tasty use! :)

Ok, will try to blog again soon! :)
