Ok, the ENT book prize competition was held on Saturday and someone won... Yay! It feels quite odd... Like it never happened... But it did!

I guess the entire Saturday felt like it never happened... Even the 2 deliveries I managed to catch... Odd...

Wow, I kinda did a delivery today! :) I was posted to labour ward last Wednesday and Friday, but i didn't have the luck to see any deliveries... So i went back to KK on saturday night and managed to observe 2 deliveries! :) Wah, i felt like a cheerleader man... cos I was shouting "push push push" and "You Can Do it!" repeatedly... The whole episode took like 2 hours... wah, felt really drained after that... Left KK at 1+am...

Today I was supposed to be on night call... So i thought i'd go down to the labour ward earlier to see the patient load...Cos if its low then no point in me staying back... I was looking out for the ppl posted to the ward (during office hours) but i didn't see anyone, so i went to check out the potential patients, and there was this patient I thought I could try asking...

So i went in and clerked her... Wah, she was really nice! And when I asked her if I could assist in her delivery she said "Yah, sure!" without even hesitating! Wow... Like it wasn't a problem at all! :) Later on I ran into Kiang Wei and i offered him the patient... Tried to intro him but it was difficult cos at that time she went into labour and I couldn't get consent... Tried asking the dad but he gave me the "I dunno" look and the nurse said that it wasn't a good idea because there was no rapport... So I continued...

I saw Baby's head coming out...more and more could be seen... and Mummy was pushing and taking deep breaths... wah, i really admire her man... She's a real tough cookie... Didn't even use Entonox! And of course, no epidural! Sister took hold of the baby's head and gently tugged... and the head was out! Sister then guided my hands to flex baby's head and rotate baby and soon baby came out! Wow... Amazing...

I quickly clamped the cord and cut the cord, and attempted to carry baby up for Mummy to see if she was a boy or a girl... It was a girl... wah, baby was crying and struggling... Thankfully another sister helped me hold her tight... Must really be firm man... Other ppl's kids lor, wouldn't want to drop them right?

Later on I helped to collect the cord blood and deliver the placenta... Wow, I can't believe I just did a delivery! The squishy feel of the wet baby feels quite surreal...

I never thought a baby's cry could feel so heartwarming... I used to get irritated, but now I kinda share the mum's joy in hearing the baby cry after carrying them for 9 months! wow...
